My reason

My Name is Jules Peacocke. I’m a proud Hairdresser and salon owner.

I have worked in Hairdressing since 1989 and have run my own Hairdressing Salon Business since 1998.

Since 1989 I have run the gamut of the hairdresser career path from apprentice to employed to solo operator then built a Salon Business with 22 staff and 2 locations.

So Far I have experienced 3 economic recessions and one global pandemic.

As a salon owner, I have educated and employed over 50 apprentices and  200 + hairdressers.

I  know I’m a Gen X and I have things to learn from the new generation of hairdressers who are coming up through the Industry behind me.

However, I have some concerns and some questions about where our industry is going and I want to understand different points of view as we navigate forward.

Our industry is facing change on a scale we have never seen before.

We are in a crisis of theft, digital transformation and hacking, new business models with NO laws to support them, generational leaps in thinking and perspectives on what work should look like and…no staff to cut hair and make people feel and look great!

As my Gen X mind looks to deal with the rate of change…. I did what I thought might help me understand what the hell is going on with….. Hairdressing…..We have a problem!!! Send help.
